I read a chapter announcement and noticed Edgar Sandoval and his forum were coming in for the F1 weekend. Being I have a huge desire to be a very hospitable chapter to EO travelers, I reached out and asked if there was anything I could help them with to make their visit more enjoyable. They said they would think about it. They mentioned they had wanted to go shoot guns in Texas and go to the Capital City Trap and Skeet Club but they didn’t think they could rent guns. Being they had this pegged to create an authentic experience, I offered for them to use my guns so they could still do the outing. After thinking about one of them shooting themselves, I decided it would be best if I joined them and reached out to Jeff Socha to see if he would join us. Jeff quickly responded he’d be happy to attend and bring more guns, so they’d have a bigger Texas experience as long as it didn’t interfere with the Aggie game.

The Guatemala EOers re-arranged their forum meeting to accommodate, and we met there there Saturday morning late enough for their hangovers to start wearing off and to be able to pick one strangler at the airport. Jeremy Girior ended up joining us last minute as well making it 3 people representing from Austin!!!! We had a blast. We quickly started making jokes and connected with these fun loving guys. Jeff and I put on a show to help them learn how to shoot guns not realizing one of the guy’s sister is a skeet shooting champion in their country, and he clearly had spent tons of time with her. Jeff and I split up the groups and guns to compete who was buying drinks that night, and he and I went off with our respective team. There were a lot of hits but many more misses. EO Guatemala guy with shooting champion sister out shot all of us, and Jeff and I came in 2nd and 3rd. Jeff’s group won, and my team became responsible for drinks. Jeremy and the guy that only hit one out contributed to our poor showing.

We had a great morning before sending them off to forum. They then ended up joining up with Jeremy’s sister 21st birthday party. Yes odd, but they really wanted to go. Jeremy and the group were a great host, and the party ended reasonably early due to the sister getting sick. They were insistent we look them up when we go to Guatemala, and they would show us a great time. I love these opportunities to explore the culture and business experiences of other members around the world. It makes the world seem smaller!!! Good times!!!
